Delivering Periodic Coach/Bus CPC Training in the North East & Yorkshire.

All Coach / Bus drivers must undertake 35 hours of periodic training by 2018 and then within every 5 year period.

The training we are providing has been developed by RTITB to the highest quality and is fully up to-date with legislation changes.

The consortium’s objective is to provide high quality periodic training, as required by the EU directive, in a manner which is cost effective, reliable and robust. All courses are approved by the Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT) on behalf of the Driving Vehicle Standards Agency.

That is how we provide quality training to our candidates, as we only use RTITB Accredited instructors with relevant work experience, knowledge and teaching skills to deliver the course to the required standard.

The consortium objective is to provide high quality periodic training, as required by the EU directive, in a manner which is cost effective, reliable and robust.

You can take a day’s training each year until you receive 35 hours training, as long as you don’t go over the deadline in the final year.

Our Courses

CPC training doesn’t have to be completed in one week.

Our PSV/Coach courses run on a Saturday each month, starting at 8:30am and finishing at 4:30pm. For the next available Saturday, please view our PSV/Coach courses.

On completion of each training day you will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

For those of you who don’t like exams, you’ll be pleased to know that this training is attendance only.

You can, however, request an assessment paper, which will be attempted at the end of each training day. Just ask your instructor prior to the end of the day so he can sort the paperwork required.

Our rolling Saturday courses are in the following order:

Once you’ve completed your training

Once you have completed the 35 hours of periodic training you will qualify for a new Driver Qualification Card (DQC) which will be automatically sent out to you. If you have a current DQC the new one will be sent out to you prior to the new period starting.

Please be aware that it is now a legal requirement for you to carry your DQC – fines of up to £1000 could be imposed and your insurance could be affected if you are found not to be carrying your card.

Coach drivers with dual category status have an extra year to complete their qualification.

Once you have completed your 35 hours of periodic training, and they have been updated on the system, you should receive your DQC within 6 working days.

You can check your progress by going to: https://www.gov.uk/check-your-driver-cpc-periodic-training-hours and follow instructions.

If you passed your Coach / Bus Licence test before 10/09/2008 you have acquired / grandfather rights with regards to the initial CPC qualification. However, if you now want to drive again for hire or reward you need to complete 35 hours of periodic training.
